Pope Francis at the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, in November 2014
Synopsis: Jesus is a holy man, but why do you turn him into a god? Isn’t it polytheism to say that God is three? Why do Catholics let priests mediate their relationship with God? In multi-religious Singapore, we may have Muslim friends or relatives who love their religion and are keen to share it with us. Come find out what Islam and Catholicism have in common (and what they don’t); what Islam and Catholicism say about each other, and how to answer questions or misconceptions that Muslims may have about our faith.
Speaker: Before retiring to raise a family, Estella Young was a political analyst of Islam and the Arab world. She has studied Arabic, Islam, and Arab politics at Cornell University (USA), the American University of Cairo (Egypt), and NUS. Estella has travelled extensively in the Middle East, including to Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and the Palestinian Territories. She is a Lay Dominican.
